Russell is a 19-year-old suburban kid, strong and fit, a boy in a man’s body. We’re not sure what he’s done, but he’s been sent to us for "the full quad" — an extreme form of punishment that includes being electrocuted, racked, crucified and whipped, one after the other. He sits alone, blindfolded and chained, in a cold cell, wearing only gym shorts, contemplating what is about to happen to him. "Hello? Is anyone there?" he asks. Then he hears footsteps.
